Church members participate in patriotic program

Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s Guild is participating in the nationwide “Stars for Our Troops” project.
Every second Wednesday of the month, members will cut the stars from flags that have been flown, are tattered and are ready for burning per regulations. The stars are placed in small plastic bags along with a card that says “Thank You for Your Service.” These bags can be handed by anyone to any current military member or veteran, policeman, fire-fighter or others who have served the United States.
This project was brought to the Women’s Guild by member Mary Jane McSparren. Her daughter, Kelsey, and son, Dan, assist her.
Guild members meet monthly from September through May. Women’s Wednesday socials are 9-11:30 a.m. and provide members an opportunity to gather and work on projects, attend committee meetings, play cards or games or just visit. Dues are $5 per year.
The next general meeting is 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8 in Madonna Hall.
