Chuck was born in Battle Creek, Iowa, on September 30, 1933, to James and Bernice (Baumann) Harrison. He was one of four boys including Darrell, Duane, and Myrl. In 1952, Chuck enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington. Chuck married his high school sweetheart Geneva Morrice on May 6, 1956, in Ida Grove, Iowa, and in 1963, the family moved to Glendora, California where they lived for the next 30 years. Chuck worked at the U.S. Postal Service where he served as a letter carrier, a supervisor, and postmaster until retiring in 1992. Chuck's family was always his focus and while in California he coached dozens of baseball and basketball teams over 14 years, coaching all four of his sons and hundreds of other boys. Chuck and Geneva moved to Sun City, Arizona, in 1993, where he and Geneva were active in their church. He golfed nearly every day. They loved spending their summers traveling the country in their trailer visiting Oregon, family, and friends.
