Players Community Theater to open ‘Broadway on 107th Avenue’

Posted

The Sun City Players Community Theater will present “Broadway on 107th Avenue” with an opening night 7 p.m. Friday, March 13 at Mountain View Recreation Center, 9749 N. 107th Ave.

Sun City will welcome 16 Broadway singers and dancers as co-directors Dan See and Ginni Summers conceived this musical presentation featuring tunes from musicals previously produced by the Players over its 57-year history.

“Broadway on 107th Avenue” includes singing and dancing, live musical accompaniment and a visual spectacle. Twenty-five musical numbers from famous Broadway shows such as “My Fair Lady,” “South Pacific,” “Oklahoma” and “Fiddler on the Roof” will showcase Players club member performers.

Mr. See and Ms. Summers have teamed to develop both music and staging. Performances of this musical extravaganza take place 7 p.m. March 13, 14, 20 and 21, and 2 p.m. March 15, 19 and 22.

“On both Fridays, March 13 and 20, you are invited to participate in our champagne reception and greet the arrival of the performers on the red carpet before the show,” Mr. See stated in a theater news release. “It’s just like Broadway, right here in Sun City!”

Tickets $10 on sale online at suncityplayerscommunitytheater.org. Beginning Monday, March 9, tickets available 10 a.m.-noon Monday through Thursday at Fairway Recreation Center, 10600 W. Peoria Ave., Sun City. Doors open 45 minutes before the show for those who wish to purchase tickets the day of performance.
