Benevilla to host shred-a-thon event

Will raise funds for agency programs

Posted

Benevilla will host its first drive-through community shred-a-thon fundraiser for its home services programs.

The shred-a-thon will be 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church parking lot, 13724 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West. The event will continue until 1 p.m. or until the shredding truck reaches capacity. The shredding truck will be provided by AARP.

Items that will be accepted in the shred-a-thon include old bank and credit card statements, billing statements, receipts, tax records and documentation after seven years, medical records, credit card receipts and paycheck stubs.

A minimum $4 donation is required per banker sized box of documents to be shredded. All participants should remain in their vehicle to safely drop off documents to be shredded curbside. Social distancing and COVID-19 preventative procedures will be in place.

“Benevilla is excited to offer this drive through shred-a-thon to our community and be able to fundraise for our much-needed services,” said Sara Villanueva, Benevilla vice president of donor relations. “Every day we are reminded how important our programs and services are to our community, especially during this unprecedented time of COVID-19 and we couldn’t do it without your support!”

Started by the community and for the community in 1981, Benevilla is a not-for-profit family services agency dedicated to enriching the lives of West Valley residents by providing care services for older adults, adults with disabilities, children and families.
