Benevilla Benefitness offers financial help

Posted

Benevilla offers a new Membership Assistance Program for those needing financial help to join the Benefitness Adaptive Gym at 16752 N. Greasewood St., Surprise.

Thanks to a grant from Gila River Indian Community, qualifying members can receive financial assistance to participate in any range of services from classes to individual training.

Individuals that want to participate but cannot afford the programs at Benefitness, can call  Lorrie Karn, director, at 623-584-0065 to review eligibility.

The Benefitness Adaptive Gym aims to ensure physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle, are no longer out of reach for anyone. Karn and the team of specially trained and nationally certified coaches provide specialized group and individual fitness programs and classes helping strengthen those with early onset diagnoses and physical ailments.

Programs are designed for people with different abilities, special considerations and on-going clinical needs. The adaptive programs focus on improving participant’s physical efficiencies, mental acuity, strength, balance and overall wellbeing. Unlike a typical gym, Benefitness provides adaptive equipment for individuals in wheelchairs, people with limited motion, and those who are differently abled.

“We are so excited to make such an important resource in the Northwest Valley even more accessible to those in our community who truly need a place where everyone, regardless of ability can get fit and healthy,” Karn said. “Our programs will help improve the quality of life of our members, improve their strength, balance and improve their ability to perform routine tasks of daily life.”

Benefitness Adaptive Gym is located on the Surprise campus of the non-profit Benevilla at 16752 N. Greasewood St., Surprise. Launched in July 2022, the gym is getting ready to celebrate their one-year anniversary with plans of extending hours and the overall square footage of the gym as well.

Benefitness offers a range of individualized and small group classes like “Functional Movement” which works on balance and stability as well as flexibility and joint range of motion and “Seated Stretch” which focuses on muscle elongation and joint range of motion.  “Cardio on the Move” a perfect trifecta incorporating cardiovascular training, muscular resistance training and core development.

A Caregiver Retreat provides comfortable seating, massage chairs, a soothing water feature, and conversation area. This caregiver relaxation space allows caregivers the opportunity to enjoy quiet respite or the benefit of connecting with others sharing the same challenges.
