Benefit concert to precede SCW Relay for Life event

The group BackBeat is putting on a benefit concert 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19 at the Sun City West Foundation Web/Powell Rooms, 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd., for The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of the Sun Cities.

Tickets are $10, or a “premium” table for eight can be reserved for $150. The Foundation, as well as the band, is donating their services.

Space is limited. Tickets available at the SCW Foundation 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 623-584-6851.

This is a BYOB event with a 50/50 raffle. Guests may also purchase luminaria at the event to honor someone who has won, lost or is fighting cancer. The event also has a dance floor.

According to The American Cancer Society, in 2019 in the U.S., there will be an estimated 1,762,450 new cancer cases and 606,880 cancer deaths, which is approximately 4,830 cases and 1,660 deaths every day.
