A Sun City senior center is ensuring easier access to COVID-19 vaccines with free transportation.

Anyone over the age of 60 can now get free transportation to and from vaccination sites thanks to a new partnership between Banner Olive Branch Senior Center and the Area Agency on Aging, according to a news release.

‘‘We all know that it is critical for our seniors to get vaccinated against COVID-19 but sometimes transportation can be an obstacle for our seniors. We want to remove that obstacle,’’ said Dawn Gielau, director of Banner Olive Branch, in a prepared statement.

Ms. Gielau said Banner Olive Branch will work with every individual to ensure anyone with an appointment has a way to get there.

Seniors can call 623-465-6009 to arrange transportation  provided by Northwest Valley Connect, a nonprofit transportation service. Banner Olive Branch is providing the call coordination and the Area Agency on Aging has provided the funding for transportation.

Any person 60 years and older without a way to get to COVID-19 vaccination sites now can get free transportation to and from the site thanks to a partnership between Banner Olive Branch Senior Center and the Area Agency on Aging.

Banner Olive Branch has served the Sun Cities since 1988 with its social and educational programs, as well as support services. In addition to its transportation service, the senior center also offers a home-delivered meal program, health and wellness classes and a pantry program fueled by community donations.
