The West Valley Astronomy Club hosts a lecture with speaker Tom Field, contributing editor at Sky & Telescope Magazine for the past seven years, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 17540, Avenue of the Arts.
Visit Club WVAC.net for updates on whether this meeting will be in person or as a virtual presentation.
The topic of the lecture is “You can almost touch the stars,” and Mr. Field will discuss how astronomers have learned about stars despite their great distances, commonly using a method to study the stars called spectroscopy, which is the science of analyzing the colorful rainbow spectrum produced by a prism-like device.
There will be refreshments and the event is open to the public. Free will offerings are accepted.
