Artists donate work for Sun City show, sale

Posted

Artists by the Lake will hold its third annual fine art show and sale 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 22 and 23 in the Lakeview Center, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd., on the second floor in all the social halls. The show is free and open to the public.

Among those donating work for the show’s raffle are Janice Rouen-Lydon and Deb Dahlin.

Rouen-Lydon has taught workshops and classes at Michaels through the years. She is a watercolorist and acrylic artist and her creations express her sense of humor in animal portraits. She organized a recent art show at the Royal Oaks Gallery and shows her work in the Palo Verde Art Club as well as Artist’s by the Lake gallery in the Lakeview Center art room.

Dahlin uses pastels, acrylic and alcohol ink to express herself. “I love color!” she states, ”and I use as much of it as I can!” Her works can be viewed at WHAM, West Valley HQ in Surprise and Glendale and the Palo Verde Art Club. She is a retired art teacher and teaches classes at Artists by the Lake 9 a.m.-noon Mondays and at WHAM.

The art community created by Artists by the Lake Club has led to a friendship between these two artists.

“We are not in competition with each other; rather we push each other to improve and become better artists which has resulted in a great friendship,” states Dahlin.

This year Artists by the Lake event will also include a gift shop during the show. The shop will have small items that club members have created for sale. Artists will be available throughout the show to answer questions and help with art purchase. There will be two artist demonstrations daily. A “People’s Choice” award will be given at the end of the show based on visitor votes.

The Artists by the Lake Club has classes forming in drawing, pastel, acrylic and oil. All levels are welcome. A valid RCSC card and a check for $10 are needed to join the club.

Visit the art room 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, call Dahlin at 315-491-9650 or email debdahlinart@yahoo.com for more information.
