Artist of the month, November demonstrator announced in Sun City

Posted

The Artists by the Lake have named Mark Christopher its artist of the month.

In his hometown of Detroit, Mr. Christopher originally planned to pursue a career in physics. In 2011, he followed his true calling to be a full-time artist into the Arizona desert. Since then, he’s committed to his passion for painting, drawing, teaching and self-expression.

For Mr. Christopher, art is as much about aesthetics as it is about supporting the well-being of his community. His representations of people and nature are designed to infuse homes, workplaces, and other public spaces with the spirit of inner peace.

Mr. Christopher was named Arizona Artist’s Guild artist of the year and Portrait Artists of Arizona artist of the year. He has won multiple awards for his work including best in show at the 2019 Portrait artists of Arizona yearly exhibition.

Mr. Christopher will be featured at a demonstration Tuesday, Nov. 5 on the second floor in the Social Hall One at the Lakeview center. A potluck begins 12 noon and members are asked to bring a dish to share followed by a short business meeting. The demonstration begins at 1 p.m. and all RCSC residents are invited to attend. The dues for Artists by the Lake are $5 until the end of 2019 and is open to all RCSC residents.
