Artist donates pastel painting to Sun City club’s raffle

Posted

Artist Alison Evans Killam has donated a pastel painting for the Artists by the Lake raffle, which will be part of the group’s third annual Fine Art Show and Sale 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 22 and 23, at the Lakeview Center, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd., on the second floor in all the Social Halls.

The show is free and open to the public.

Killam is a contemporary abstract mixed media artist who lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for most of the year. Her works describe the rawness and organic nature of the land that surrounds her home city. She has been a creative soul all her life but took up the artist’s life after retirement. She found her passion through mentorship in Calgary and Sun City.

Through daily painting, exploring techniques and attending many workshops, Killam has developed a unique style. She has participated in many art shows including Artists by the Lake, Palo Verde and Glendale. She has sold both in Canada and the United States.

Additionally, this year’s Artists by the Lake show will include a gift shop, which will have small items club members have made for sale. Artists will be available throughout the show to answer questions and help with art purchases.

A “Peoples’ Choice” award will be given at the end of the show based on visitor votes

The Artists by the Lake Club is located in the Lakeview Center on the second floor. Classes are now forming in drawing, pastel, watercolor, acrylic and oil. All levels are welcome; must have a valid RCSC card and a check for $10. Visit the art room 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday or contact Deb Dahlin, 315-491-9650 or debdahlinart@yahoo.com, for more information.
