Alice Elaine Cowperthwaite

Posted

Alice died at the age 82 on October 20, 2024 in Denver, Colorado. Her daughter Tanya and her son Clint and his family were with her at the end. Alice was born in Cut Bank, Montana on September 7, 1942, to Rudolf Losing and Bertha Renner. One of six children, she grew up in northern Montana and, though she travelled widely, never lost her love for the state. Alice graduated from Cut Bank High School. She met her husband Allen Monroe Cowperthwaite while working at a movie theatre, and while he was in the military. They married in Cut Bank on September 14, 1962.
Alice had a strong ethic of work and service. She worked as a bookkeeper, claims adjuster, and church secretary, and once ran a sandwich shop with her sister Mildred. She was active in her church, PTA and kids’ sports. She raised her children Tanya and Clint and kept close links with her brothers and sisters and their children. She was respected and loved as a mother, grandmother and “Auntie Alice”.
Alice lived at different times in Montana, Idaho, Hawaii, Colorado and Arizona, and enjoyed skiing, hiking and being in nature. Al and Alice retired to Sun City, Arizona and to a house they built themselves on Holter Lake. In both places Alice had many friends, and enjoyed golf, pickleball, church and spending time with her friends. Despite losing Al tragically soon after his retirement Alice lived life to the full, always active, and always there for her family and friends.
Alice is survived by her sisters Mildred and Sharon, her brother Donnie, son Clint and his wife Amy, daughter Tanya and her husband Chris, her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their children, and so many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Al, two brothers and three nephews.
