A new acoustic jam group is starting Jan. 4, meeting 1-2:30 p.m. in the Fairway Center Music Room, 10600 W. Peoria Ave. The group will meet twice a month on the first and third Wednesdays.

The acoustic jam is an opportunity to bring acoustic instruments and join a circle of musicians playing round robin style. Front porch style jam instruments such as guitar, ukulele, bass, tin whistle, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer, fiddle, squeeze box, harmonica, flute and small percussion instruments such as spoons/bones will be used. The main purpose is to have fun playing and singing a variety of music from country to bluegrass, folk, oldies, ethnic, Irish and root. Participants will use traditional jam song format such as the 1-4-5 chord progression.

Interested RCSC cardholders will join the Sun City Ukulele Club for the yearly $10 fee. More information will be given when meeting.
