Dennis Carlson
Dennis Carlson moved with his wife to Sun City in 2015, having been a winter visitor from Nebraska for six years.
His associates degree supported him through a 42-year management career, as well as his 28 years elected service as mayor of Shelby, Nebraska, where his public speaking ability came in handy. He was elected to the city council for 34 years and has also served on his church council for four years, including a term as president.
Mr. Carlson considers his second career is “golf and more golf” and enjoys working on computers.
“I enjoys working with others and assisting with problem solving issues,” he said.
George Courtot
George Courtot spent most of his life in Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.
He has lived in Sun City for four years. He received a BA degree from Rutgers College and received his law degree from American University.
Admitted to the bar of Maryland and D.C., Mr. Courtot focused on insurance law and defense where he worked several high-profile cases specializing in professional and product liability and contractual issues. He was awarded many honors and professional designations.
He is now on SCHOA’s CC&R Committee and Insurance Committee and serves on the Insurance Committee for the Recreation Centers of Sun City. He is also a board member/officer for the Sun City Early Bird Lions Club.
“I believes that community service is an obligation and a privilege and I respect SCHOA’s efforts in maintaining the qualities and values of our community.” he said of serving on the SCHOA board.
Jim Powell
Jim Powell became a winter visitor in 1998 and became full-time residents in 2005.
He previously lived in California and Wisconsin.
Receiving a degree in police science/administration, Mr. Powell attended Fullerton College and California State Long Beach. He retired from law enforcement after 24 years.
Mr. Powell previously served on SCHOA’s board for eight years. He now serves on the Compliance Committee and is co-chairman of the Roads and Safety Committee. He also is a member of the RCSC Bowling Committee, also past member of RCSC Properties Committee.

“It is important to protect property values and ensure the safety of Sun City residents through communication with local agencies and enforcing our CC&Rs,” Mr. Powell said.
Pam Schwartz
Pam Schwartz has lived in Sun City for eight years, having moved with her husband to Arizona from Illinois.
She received a nursing license and later earned a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s in business administration from Aurora University in Illinois. She worked as a charge nurse and in private duty and, after getting her business degrees, worked as a sales and logistics coordinator for a major home electronics firm.
Ms. Schwartz, having served on the SCHOA board previously (2013–17), is a past board president. She served in many volunteer positions, including being asked by legislators to assist in dealing with West Valley transit issues where she continues to volunteer. She is also a member of the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum Board of Trustees. Her positions with SCHOA now are on the Roads and Safety, Membership and Bylaws committees.
“I Sun City and SCHOA, having learned to appreciate them through my late father, a winter visitor and resident before me,” she said. “I believe I am honoring him by living in and working with the Sun City community.”
She believes strongly in the values that makes SCHOA such an effective advocate for Sun City.
