September 29, 1932-January 26, 2020

William Walter Theut, 87, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away on January 26, 2020. Bill was a devoted husband and father that touched many lives.

He retired in 1998 after 32 years of service from the United States Postal Service located in Rochester Michigan Branch #320.

He continued with his dedication of giving to the community after retirement. He used his wood making skills to make wooden toys (over 200 each year) to give to the children in shelters and domestic violence centers, so they would have a toy for Christmas.

After moving to Arizona, Bill continued his unselfish service by volunteering for over four years at Del Webb Hospital; it was here that he received the name “Mr. Bill” from the children. Dad always had a lollipop waiting for them after their procedures and it was the part that made both Dad’s and the children’s day.

Bill was a 4th Degree member of the Knight of Columbus Council #11957 at St. Therese of Lisieux in Shelby Township, MI. He received the honor “Knight of the Year” in 2003.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Ann (Wurth); daughter, Trish (Sarah); son, Joseph; grandson, Tyler; sister, Joyce (Theut) Rupp. Bill will be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen (KT) Theut-McCormack; parents, Walter William Theut & Cecilia (Peters); sisters, Donna (Arthur) Couch and Joann Theut; brother, Roy Theut; and nephews, Brian and Jason Rupp.

Bill’s burial will be in the spring with a Memorial Mass at St. Therese of Lisieux. Bill will be laid to rest next to KT at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Bill may be made to Hospice of the Valley Arizona, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Society of Little Flower, Darien, IL.
