Who’s Who in the Camera Guild: Cheri Kennedy

Posted

Cheri Kennedy was born in Sacramento, CA, grew up in Aransas Pass, TX, and Detroit, and has lived in Colorado Springs, CO. Since then, she has lived 43 years in the Phoenix area, 20 of which have been spent in Sun City, which she now considers her home.

Describing herself as one of the “senior” members of the Camera Guild of Sun City, Ms. Kennedy joined the group in 2006, after retiring from her career as a legal assistant/secretary.

“Just think,” she stated, “that’s 14 years happily living without a 9-to-5 job, spending more time with the family, volunteering, making new friends by going on Camera Guild photo shoots and outings and learning new photography techniques in the classroom and, hopefully, giving back to the community and Camera Guild by being an active member.”

Ms. Kennedy is a past-president of the Camera Guild and served prior to current president John Wood and past-president Dan Evander. She has alaso held other positions such as secretary, interim treasurer, monitor chair and chair or member on various guild committees. She also serves as the Camera Guild’s club representative on the Arizona Camera Club Council.

Earlier this year, Ms. Kennedy received recognition from the Photographic Society of America for successfully completing its advanced course in image analysis. During the past three years, she has acted as a judge at other local camera club competitions in the metropolitan area, as well as at ACCC and PSA competitions.
