Leading up to the general election, Nov. 3, registered Republicans have the advantage in the breakdown of registered voters in Peoria, but the southern part of the city leans more independent.
Of the nearly 123,000 registered voters in the city, there are more registered Republicans than any other party at 53,158 or about 43%.
There are 31,064 registered Democrats in the city, making up 25% of registered voters.
Libertarians and other independent voters, an ever growing component of the electorate in Arizona, make up about 31% of registered voters in Peoria with 38,437.
There are 1,084 registered Libertarians in Peoria.
The most registered voters by far reside in the Mesquite District at 28,141. Willow has 22,513, Palo Verde has 19,825, Ironwood has 19,510, Pine has 16,598, and Acacia has 16,072.
An estimated 96,175 Peoria voters on the Permanent Early Voting List have been sent early ballots for the general election, according to the Maricopa County Elections Department.
Republicans also have the advantage in each of the city’s six city council districts, except for Acacia and Pine, where Libertarians and Independents narrowly lead the pack.
Acacia has 5,967 Libertarians and Independents, 5,165 registered Democrats and 4,940 registered Republicans. Pine has 5,804 Libertarians and Independents, 5,638 Republicans, 5,155 Democrats.
The biggest Republican strongholds in the city are in Mesquite with 14,147, Willow with 11,073, Ironwood with 8,801 and Palo Verde with 8,559.
