10 p.m.

The Atlanta Falcons lead the Philadelphia Eagles 10-6 at halftime in another defensive struggle between these teams.

The only touchdown was Matt Ryan's 34-yard pass to Calvin Ridley with 4:56 left in the first half. The Falcons also got a 50-yard field goal from Matt Bryant.

Philadelphia was held to two field goals by Jake Elliott, including a 41-yarder on the final play of the half off an interception by Sidney Jones with 41 seconds left.

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz briefly left the game with an undisclosed injury. Josh McCown came in for six plays, but Wentz returned to finish the half.

9:35 p.m.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been hit hard by injuries in the first half of their game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Receivers Alshon Jeffery (calf) and DeSean Jackson (groin) are listed as questionable to return, which would be a big blow to the passing game.

The Eagles also lost one of their two tight ends on the roster. Dallas Goedert went down with a calf injury and the team says his return is questionable, leaving Zach Ertz as the only healthy tight end.

Atlanta leads 10-3 late in the first half.

9:30 p.m.

Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Kaleb McGary has been helped off the field with a left knee injury.

The rookie was hurt near the midway point of the second quarter while protecting on a pass play against the Philadelphia Eagles. His return to the game is questionable.

McGary was selected by the Falcons near the end of the first round with the 31st overall pick. But he was sidelined during much of the preseason after undergoing a heart procedure. Now, he's dealing with a knee injury.

The Falcons have already been hit hard by injuries on the offensive line. Another rookie, 14th overall pick Chris Lindstrom, went on injured reserve after breaking his foot in the season opener. Matt Gono, who was expected to share playing time with McGary, is missing his second straight game with a back injury.

7:35 p.m.

Chicago's kicking woes from last year feel like a distant memory thanks to Eddy Pineiro.

The 24-year-old made three field goals on Sunday, including a 53-yard attempt as time expired, to lift the Bears over the Denver Broncos 16-14.

The clutch kick capped a thrilling final minute of football. It looked like the Broncos were about to win they scored a touchdown to pull within 13-12 with 31 seconds left and then converted a 2-point conversion to push ahead 14-13.

But the Bears drove the field and Pineiro sealed the win. He also hit field goals from 52 and 40 years.

6:25 p.m.

The most common call by official Adrian Hill: "Holding, No. 72."

That would be Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles, who's been flagged four times for holding against Chicago.

Each time his number was called, the boos from the crowd grew louder and louder.

Bolles has now been flagged for various offenses 34 times in 34 career starts. He has five holding calls this season.

The Saints finally got a replay overturned in their favor against the Rams. However, it didn't go totally in their favor.

Officials originally ruled that Jared Goff threw an incomplete pass on third-and-7 from the Saints 11 midway through the second quarter, but Saints defensive end Trey Hendrickson appeared to sack Goff and force a fumble, which was recovered by Cameron Jordan at the Saints 13 and run back 87 yards for a touchdown.

The Saints challenged and got the call overturned, but officials had blown the play dead, meaning New Orleans took over at their own 13.

It still marks a rare officiating victory for the Saints, who are still angry about not having a pass interference and helmet-to-helmet contact penalties called during the fourth quarter of the NFC championship game against the Rams in January. In last week's opener against the Texans, a botched ruling left the Saints with 15 fewer seconds to run at the end of the first half.

Aaron Donald has returned to the game for the Los Angeles Rams after briefly going to the locker room because of a back injury.

The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year came back on the field late in the second quarter against the Saints. Los Angeles leads 6-3 at halftime.

5:45 p.m.

Those Chicago Bears field-goal woes appear so last season.

Eddy Pineiro is now 3 for 3 this season. He hit two field goals against the Denver Broncos, including a 52-yarder as the Bears grabbed a 6-3 halftime lead. The Bears offense continues to struggle near the end zone. They've now gone six quarters without a TD.

Pineiro earned the place-kicking duties after being acquired in a trade with Oakland in May.

The Bears had been looking for a kicker since cutting Cody Parkey following his "double-doink" field goal miss of 43 yards in their 16-15 playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pineiro, who turned 24 on Friday, was 38 of 43 on field-goal attempts at the University of Florida.

Reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald has left the Los Angeles Rams' game against the New Orleans Saints due to a back injury.

Donald appeared to be stiffening up during the Saints' two drives under Teddy Bridgewater, who replaced an injured Drew Brees during the first quarter. The All-Pro defensive tackle left the field gingerly at least twice, and he finally went to the locker room in the second quarter.

Donald was having a dominant game against the Saints before departing. He had a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit during the first 15 minutes.

Brees was injured during the first quarter when his throwing hand hit Donald's hand.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is out of the game against the Los Angeles Rams due to an injury to his right hand during the first quarter.

Brees hit his throwing hand on the hand of Rams All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald during a third-down pass intended for tight end Jared Cook.

The Saints say Brees return is questionable. He is on the sideline with his right thumb heavily bandaged. Teddy Bridgewater has come into the game at quarterback.

Receiver Keith Kirkwood was ruled out for the New Orleans Saints shortly after kickoff in Los Angeles. The backup wideout apparently suffered a hamstring injury during pregame warmups.

Kirkwood didn't have a catch in Week 1. He made 13 catches for 209 yards and two TDs last season.

Two of the NFL's intriguing young quarterbacks put up good numbers when the Baltimore Ravens beat the Arizona Cardinals 23-17.

Lamar Jackson threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 120 yards to lead the Ravens to their second straight win.

The Cardinals' Kyler Murray, who was the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft, threw for 349 yards but no touchdowns.

Arizona is still looking for its first win of the season. The Cardinals tied with the Detroit Lions 27-27 in Week 1.

Indianapolis kicker Adam Vinatieri has missed his second extra point of the day.

The oldest player in the NFL and the league's career scoring leader hit the right upright after Jacoby Brissett threw to T.Y. Hilton for a 4-yard touchdown.

Vinatieri pulled an earlier extra point wide left.

Last week was the first time the 46-year-old Vinatieri had missed two field goals and an extra point in the same game and was just the seventh time he had missed a field goal inside 30 yards.

Indianapolis led Tennessee 19-17 late in the fourth quarter.

The Indianapolis Colts are without one of their starting cornerbacks.

Pierre Desir hurt a knee at the end of a 25-yard catch by Titans wide receiver Corey Davis early in the third quarter. The Colts first said Desir was questionable to return only to announce he was out late in the quarter.

For all their problems, the Detroit Lions usually have a reliable kicker. Even Matt Prater is struggling today.

Prater missed an extra point in the first quarter and a 40-yard field goal in the second, and the Lions trail the Los Angeles Chargers 10-6 late in the third.

The Chargers are having their problems as well. They had two touchdowns nullified by penalties on one third-quarter drive — and eventually fumbled the ball away near the Detroit goal line.

When Los Angeles got the ball back, another good chance to score went by the wayside when Ty Long hit the upright on a 39-yard field goal attempt.

Bart Starr got one more rousing ovation in Green Bay.

The Packers paid tribute to their late Hall of Fame quarterback at halftime of their home opener against the Minnesota Vikings.

His wife Cherry was escorted from the tunnel by Hall of Fame QB Brett Favre and her son Bart Jr. to midfield, where she hugged commissioner Roger Goodell. Team president Mark Murphy presented her a 1960s helmet with a number 15 decal in honor of her husband, who died at age 85 in late May.

Cherry Starr thanked the organization, Goodell and the fans, saying, "For 63 years, you have loved and embraced us and supported us." The team then played a tribute video for the quarterback who led Green Bay to five NFL championships and wins in the first two Super Bowls.

The 1966 NFL MVP, Starr had been in failing health since suffering two strokes and a heart attack five years ago.

Packers safety Raven Greene was carted off the field following the first play of the second half with an injury to his ankle. His return is questionable. Greene is in his second season with Green Bay.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is dealing with a right elbow injury and won't start the second half against the Seahawks.

Roethlisberger grabbed his right arm with the Steelers driving late in the first half, but remained in the game as the Steelers took a 10-7 lead into the break.

Mason Rudolph, who won the backup job during the preseason, will fill in for Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger completed 8 of 15 passes for 75 yards in the first half and was sacked once.

The Bears-Broncos game in Denver today marks a number of firsts.

Broncos coach Vic Fangio is making his home debut, and it's against his former team.

Fangio and Denver defensive coordinator Ed Donatell spent the last four seasons together in Chicago designing the NFL's best defense that's now being run by Chuck Pagano.

The game marks the first one at the newly renamed Empower Field at Mile High, where the Broncos are seeking their 19th win in their last 20 home openers.

The only blemish was a 23-20 loss to the Raiders in 2011.

The Broncos haven't lost at home in Week 2 since 1979.

Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk says nobody will ever wear the No. 9 of the late Steve McNair or the No. 27 of Eddie George ever again.

The Titans retired those numbers at halftime of their home opener against Indianapolis, becoming the first NFL team to retire either of those numbers in the league's history.

McNair's widow, Mechelle, and their two sons attended the halftime ceremony along with McNair's mother and brothers.

Fans chanted "Ed-die, Ed-die" before the franchise's all-time leading rusher spoke. A handful of former teammates were on hand, including Jevon Kearse, Kevin Dyson and Zach Piller.

The oldest player in the NFL has missed another extra point.

Adam Vinatieri missed an extra point and a pair of field goals in the Colts' opener last week in an overtime loss to the Chargers. The NFL's career scoring leader connected on his first extra point in the first quarter. After Jacoby Brissett hit Parris Campbell for a 12-yard TD for a 13-7 lead over Tennessee with 8:00 left in the second quarter on Sunday, Vinatieri pulled the extra point wide left.

Cardinals running back David Johnson has been sidelined with a wrist injury, with his return to the game against the Ravens questionable.

Johnson carried 18 times for 82 yards last week in the opener against Detroit and had three attempts for seven yards before being hurt against Baltimore.

Adrian Peterson passed Jim Brown for fifth place for most rushing touchdowns in NFL history with his 107th.

Peterson ran it in from a yard out on the second play of the second quarter to help Washington take a 7-0 lead against the visiting Dallas Cowboys.

Peterson started for Washington a week after being a healthy scratch in the regular-season opener. But starter Derrius Guice had knee surgery after getting hurt in Week 1, getting Peterson back into the lineup.

The 34-year-old Peterson is in his 13th NFL season.

David Quessenberry, the offensive lineman who fought off cancer to finally play in the NFL, now has his first career touchdown catch.

Quessenberry reported as eligible with the Titans having first-and-goal at the Colts 1 to start the second quarter. Marcus Mariota for the touchdown, and Quessenberry celebrated holding the ball high over his head.

He originally was drafted by the Texans in the sixth round of the 2013 draft only to suffer a season-ending foot injury. He was diagnosed with cancer in June 2014 and spent three years fighting the disease. He finally played in two games in the 2017 season with Houston and made the Titans' roster out of camp this year.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel caught 10 passes himself during his playing career as a linebacker.

The Tennessee Titans are kicking off their home season with a bang.

Equipment used for pyrotechnics during pre-game festivities about five minutes before kickoff. Workers quickly started putting out the fire near the 5-yard line on the sideline near the Titans' locker room.

The show went on as workers extinguished the flames as Taj George, wife of Eddie George and a member of the group Sisters With Voices (SWV) sang the national anthem.

Houston WR Kenny Stills kneeled during the national anthem on Sunday before the team's game against Jacksonville. This is the fifth season that he's kneeled during the anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality.

The NFL's Sunday afternoon slate of Week 2 games is about to begin. Among the intriguing matchups: Seattle at Pittsburgh, Dallas at Washington and Arizona at Baltimore.

The biggest game might be later in the day in Los Angeles, where the Rams host the Saints in a rematch of last year's NFC title game. The Rams won that one 26-23 in a matchup largely remembered because of a blatant interference penalty that wasn't called by the officials and helped Los Angeles advance to the Super Bowl.

Both teams won tight games in their season opener. The Rams topped the Panthers 30-27 while the Saints needed a late field goal on Monday night to beat the Texans 30-28.
