The Surprise Water Resource Management Department will play host to a ribbon cutting and community celebration at the new Xeriscape Demonstration Garden on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The ribbon cutting event will start at 9 a.m. and be followed by the community celebration from 9:30 to 11.
The garden is on the north side of the Surprise City Hall Campus, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza, just west of Arts HQ. It is open to residents and visitors year-round from sunrise to sunset.
Although the garden was completed in late June, the new plants needed time to set in, and during this time of year temperatures are more favorable for a celebration event.
During the community celebration, visitors can enjoy different conservation stations throughout the garden. Master gardeners will lead demonstrations and providing an open house of the new Water Education Center, plus there will be giveaways to help residents conserve water at home.
