The NCAA Division II men’s and women’s tennis championships is coming back to Surprise in 2026.

Surprise was one of 450 hosts the NCAA announced Oct. 14 for 450 championship tournaments to be played from 2022 to 2026.

The Surprise Tennis and Racquet Center will host the event in partnership with the Pacific West Conference.

The tennis center had previously hosted the Division II championships in 2013, 2015 and 2018. Surprise was perviously awarded the host bid for 2021 as well.

“The city has developed a strong partnership with the NCAA, and we are honored to host the 2026 tennis national championship,” Surprise Sports and Tourism Director Kendra Pettis said in a news release.

The NCAA received more than 3,000 bid submissions from member schools, conferences, sports commissions and cities vying to host predetermined rounds for 86 of the NCAA’s 90 championships.

“Our city continues to grow its brand as a championship destination in the Southwest, and this recognition reinforces that,” Ms. Pettis said.

Surprise has been the annual home of PacWest championship since 2014.

The NCAA Division II men’s and women’s tennis championships are two concurrent 16-team single-elimination team tournaments.

The qualifiers are the two finalists from each of the division’s eight regions.

The PacWest has won 10 national championships in men’s and women’s tennis with the most recent being Hawaii Pacific's men’s championship in 2016.
