Sun City West has 2nd best credit in nation

The Sun Cities fared well in terms of credit scores, according to a new WalletHub study focused on credit scores during the time of a pandemic shows.

Residents in Sun City West are tied for the second highest credit scores in the nation with an average of 789.

Sun City West and Sun City Center, Florida, are behind only The Villages, Florida, which has a healthy credit score average of 807.

Another Arizona city, Green Valley, finished in the top four.

WalletHub compared the median credit scores of residents in each of 2,572 U.S. cities.

After Sun City West and Green Valley, the top 10 cities in Arizona included Oro Valley, Fountain Hills, Sun City, Cave Creek, Prescott, Sedona, Scottsdale and Marana.

A study of Transunion credit scores in September shows Surprise residents own an average score of 700, which puts it 20th among other Arizona areas and 1,159th in the nation.

Residents in Goodyear (711 average score), Peoria (708) and Litchfield Park (704) all have average scores ahead of Surprise.

El Mirage finished dead last among Arizona cities and 2,446th in the nation with an average credit score of 635.
