INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
State health officials have issued an ozone high-pollution advisory through Sunday and advise caution for those planning strenuous outdoor activities.
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality advisory is issued when the highest concentration of pollution may exceed the federal health standard.
“Active children, adults and people with lung disease such as asthma should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion,” health officials advised in a release.
Also, wood-burning fireplaces, outdoor fire pits and similar outdoor fires should not be used in Maricopa County, officials said.
Outdoor paining projects are discouraged during a high-pollution advisory, state officials said.
