Scottsdale seeks ‘Beat the Heat’ donations as deadline nears
Senior Services’ accepting items through May 27
Posted
The city of Scottsdale Senior Services’ Beat the Heat program is low on donations, prompting a call to the public for help.
This annual program provides care packages to vulnerable homebound seniors during the summer, according to a press release.
The program is also an opportunity for city staff and volunteers to assess and meet senior needs, making sure vulnerable residents are hydrated, have enough food and their air conditioners are working properly.
Items needed include:
Water
Nutritional drinks
Snacks
Ice packs
Fans
Hygiene items
Gift cards; and
A book of stamps.
The Beat the Heat program is accepting donations 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, through May 27, at the Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 E. Via Linda.
