Scottsdale re-establishes face mask requirement

Posted

Mayor David D. Ortega issued an emergency proclamation Wednesday, Jan. 13, that re-establishes a local face covering requirement in Scottsdale.

Recognizing the surging COVID-19 numbers in Maricopa County, the Scottsdale order directly supports Gov. Doug Ducey’s “Mask Up Arizona” campaign and is aligned with Maricopa County’s face covering requirement, which has applied in Scottsdale since it was issued in June, according to a press release.

In addition, Mr. Ortega’s Jan. 13 order emphasizes the role of face coverings within the measures needed to help slow the spread of COVID-19, including physical distance and good hand and surface hygiene.

Mayor Ortega took office Tuesday, Jan. 12. This is his second emergency proclamation, following an order that affirms and continues actions under the city’s emergency response plan that have been in place since March 2020.
