Rutan opens first office in Arizona

In a move to service existing Arizona-based clients as well as capture new business in one of the fastest growing markets in the United States, Rutan & Tucker LLP has announced the opening of an office in Scottsdale.

The office, the firm’s first in Arizona, will be managed by Hani Z. Sayed, the department head of Rutan’s intellectual property section. Sayed has long ties to the area and has been representing Arizona clients for several years, according to a press release.

“It may come as a surprise to many people who know our firm to be a California firm, but our new Arizona office follows the natural progression of our firm’s growth,” said Rutan’s Managing Partner Mark Frazier. “Our firm has a history of representing clients based in Arizona in a wide range of matters. We expect our relationships with Arizona clients to continue to expand and our new office will accelerate that expansion.”

Sayed, who also heads the firm’s automotive industry and life sciences practice groups, is an experienced IP attorney who protects his clients’ inventions, technology, designs, and brands. His technology experience is extensive and covers products, processes and designs in mechanical, health care, information technology, material sciences, biotechnology, medical devices, computer networking, memory devices, electronics, as well as well-known consumer brands in gaming, apparel, nutritional supplements, entertainment, sports and media.

“I have been a member of the state bar of Arizona providing intellectual property services to Arizona-based clients for several years, so I am excited to spearhead our expansion to Arizona,” said Sayed. “My goal is to build a full-service office, translating our offerings from California to business and government entities in Arizona.”

Rutan’s new office will be located at the Promenade Corporate Center, 16427 N. Scottsdale Road, suite 260.
