Royse Contemporary presents ‘Into Another Light’

Posted

Royse Contemporary is hosting “Into Another Light,” which is the debut solo exhibition of Casey Wakefield.

The artist’s work and this new collection, according to a press release, draws attention to good and to pull people forward while creating optimism, unity, peace, and tranquility through dreamy, meditative artwork.

The release described the artist’s use of color that engages viewers’ senses while Ms. Wakefield aims to encourage people to look forward and choose hope despite the challenges of 2020.

“Into Another Light is a positive and touching exhibition that urges the viewer to look to the future and the good, especially relevant in our current turbulent times,” said owner/curator, Nicole Royse in a prepared statement.

“I am inspired by groupings of color that catch my eye and the essence of a memory or experience, music, quote, or poem,” said Ms. Wakefield in a prepared statement.

“I find that the joy of painting is to watch the abstract emerge into something that evolves from the process and in the end creates an emotional connection for the viewer.”

Creating compositions of color with layers of acrylic ink, collage, acrylic paint, finished with oil paint, the release described her work as an “organic transformation of colors, drips, and marks captured in abstract form on canvas,” creating an emotional connection for someone.

Raised in a small midwestern town in central Illinois, Ms. Wakefield graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration from Illinois State University. She obtained her master of arts in elementary education from University of Phoenix.

Ms. Wakefield studied painting at the Milan Art Institute, where she discovered her passion for color and “letting the process of painting determine the outcome in abstract form.”

Represented by Royse Contemporary, in Scottsdale, her work has been featured locally and abroad in national and international publications.

“Into Another Light” will open virtually to the public on Dec. 9 via Royse Contemporary Facebook Page, followed by a public opening from 6-9 p.m.  on Thursday, Dec. 10 with an opportunity to meet the artist and curator; coinciding with the special “Scottsdazzle” ArtWalk.

The exhibit will be on display Dec. 10 through Jan. 10, 2021 at Royse Contemporary, in the Scottsdale Arts District in the Marshall Square complex at 7077 E. Main Street, Suite 6, Scottsdale.

Open to the public, hours are 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays and 12-3 p.m. on Saturdays; and by private appointment.
