Rattlers down Sugar Skulls 54-38 for fifth straight victory

TUCSON -- The Arizona Rattlers won their fifth straight game on Saturday night, a 54-38 victory over their in-state rival the Tucson Sugar Skulls.

Arizona QB Drew Powell led the Rattlers to their third 50-point performance in a row. Powell threw for a season-high 173 yards and five touchdowns (15 for the season) while adding one on the ground (16).

WR Troy Pelletier hauled in three receiving TDs against the Sugar Skulls. Jarrod Harrington had two receiving TDs (6 this season) on 59 yards receiving.

Nick LaSane scored a pair of short rushing TDs.

Defensively, Arizona (6-1) forced a pair of turnovers by Tucson (1-6). Defensive back Dillion Winfrey secured his third interception of the season on the first play of the second half. The Rattlers later recovered a fumble, scoring 14 points off the two Skulls' miscues.

Rattlers defensive lineman Nik D'Avanzo continued his stellar play, recording his fourth sack this season. The Arizona D allowed just 55 rushing yards on the night.

The Rattlers will next host the Northern Arizona Wranglers (1-6) at Phoenix Suns Arena on Saturday, July 10. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m.
