Randy Brice hired as chief of Queen Creek Police Department

Posted

The Town of Queen Creek has hired Randy Brice as the first police chief of the Queen Creek Police Department.

“The town was fortunate to have outstanding candidates for this important position,” Mayor Gail Barney said in a release. “Randy Brice will be a fantastic leader as we establish the Queen Creek Police Department. Randy has worked in law enforcement for nearly 30 years and will bring important perspectives to Queen Creek having worked in a leadership position for both the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and a municipal police department.”

Mr. Brice began his career with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in 1992. He worked in many capacities throughout the organization and earned several unique certifications including Drug Recognition Expert, Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic. In May 2016, he retired from the sheriff’s office at the rank of captain. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Gilbert Police Department as a commander; he was the interim chief of police and currently is the assistant chief of police over the Investigation-Support Bureau, the release states.

“This is a critical milestone in our transition to a municipal police department,” Queen Creek Town Manager John Kross said in the release. “The chief of police is instrumental in establishing the culture of our police department and ensuring our measurable goals for community oriented policing are fundamental to that culture. I am confident in Randy’s ability to excel in these areas, in addition to his in-depth knowledge of how technology can be implemented effectively. Randy’s experience with MCSO coupled with his leadership tenure with the Gilbert Police Department are important as we transition to the Queen Creek Police Department.”

He will begin as the chief of the Queen Creek Police Department on July 20. Initial priorities will include identifying command staff, establishing policies, procedures and operations, and engaging with the community. It is anticipated that it will take 18 months to fully transition to the Queen Creek Police Department, the release states.

“I am very excited to be a part of this historic process,” Mr. Brice shared. “The Town of Queen Creek is an amazing community and I am honored to be the very first chief of police. My commitment is to develop an organization rooted in service, integrity, and kindness. We will engage, connect, and innovate and I invite you to get involved. This journey will only be successful if we create an atmosphere of collaboration, trust, and partnership. I look forward to creating opportunities to communicate and work together with the community.”

Mr. Brice has a bachelor of business administration-organizational management degree and is a graduate of the 249th Session of the FBI National Academy. He is a member of the FBI's National Academy Associates; the East Valley Chiefs of Police Association; the Arizona Chiefs of Police Association; and the International Association of the Chiefs of Police.

MCSO will remain the contracted law enforcement provider during the transition, the release states.

The town has been working closely with MCSO and they have committed to working with the town to ensure a smooth transition, with the Queen Creek Police Department anticipated to go live in January 2022. MCSO District 6 is at 20727 E. Civic Parkway. For additional information about MCSO, visit QueenCreek.org/MCSO.
