Queen Creek to receive $87.5M from state for SR24 connection

Posted

Queen Creek and Pinal County will receive millions from the state for road improvement projects.

The money comes from a surplus of $2.4 billion left over after the state Legislature adopted a funding plan for the upcoming fiscal year.

Queen Creek will get $87.5 million to extend State Route 24 to include a traffic interchange at SR24 and Ironwood Road. The earmark allows Queen Creek to use the funds “for all necessary expenses from the current project status until completion.” In addition, Queen Creek is required to work with Pinal County before spending the money.

Pinal County will receive the following funds:

  • $5.3 million for distribution to Coolidge for Coolidge Avenue reconstruction between Christensen Road and Clemans Road.
  • $9.24 million for distribution to Pinal County for engineering and design of the West Pinal Parkway East-West Corridor.
