The Town of Queen Creek recently received a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for its comprehensive annual financial report.

The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, according to a release.

“The Town Council is committed to being responsible and transparent with our taxpayer’s dollars,” Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney said in the release. “This recognition speaks to our commitment and your Town Council will continue to make it easy for residents to understand how tax dollars are used to continually improve the community as we move forward.”

The comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure, the release states.

“We are very appreciative of this recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association,” Queen Creek Town Manager John Kross said in the release. “This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the principles of integrity, transparency and ongoing best practices in fiscal management of the town’s resources. The financial management of the public’s resources are critical to everything we do in public service. This recognition is a testament to the professionalism of our talented staff and the leadership of our Town Council in all they continue to do for the organization and community.”
