Queen Creek has rescheduled a popular Earth Month event after it was canceled due to bad weather.

The town’s annual, free Cardboard Box Car “Drive-in” Movie was set to take place on April 4, but high winds forced the event to be postponed.

The town’s environmental services division will now be hosting the film “The Wild Robot” on Saturday, April 26 at Founders’ Park, 22407 S. Ellsworth Road.

Families are encouraged to build “box cars” made from cardboard and other recyclable materials for their kids and bring them to the movie screening.

Free popcorn and water will be served starting at 7 p.m. while supplies last. The movie will begin at sunset at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Also on April 26, Queen Creek will be holding a recycling event.

QC Recycles drive-thru, drop-off event takes place from 7 to 11 a.m. at the town’s field operations facility, 19715 S. 220th St., on 220th Street north of Queen Creek Road.

The free event is open to town of Queen Creek residents. Those who register by Monday, April 21 will receive a fast pass via email 48 hours before the event that will help them get through the event as quickly as possible, according to a town press release.
