Queen Creek annual water quality report now available

The town of Queen Creek’s 2021 Annual Water Quality Report is now available. The report contains information about the source and quality of Queen Creek’s drinking water.
The town of Queen Creek Water Division is tasked with providing safe and reliable high-quality drinking water, meeting or exceeding all standards for water quality monitoring requirements set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state of Arizona drinking water health standards, according to a press release.
The water quality is ensured through a series of chemical and bacteriological tests performed throughout the year. The town of Queen Creek reports that of the regulated substances tested, all were within allowable levels and no health-based violations were reported.
Federal law requires that once a year suppliers of tap water make a report available about the quality of tap water.
According to the report, the town of Queen Creek water service extends outside the physical boundaries of the town.
“In 2021, we saw over 33,000 active connections, attributed to the remarkable new single-family home and commercial growth,” stated Paul Gardner, utilities director for Queen Creek, in the report. “Expected growth is anticipated with a projection to serve an estimated population of approximately 100,000 by end of 2023.”
This past year the water division completed improvements to more than seven wells. In addition, more than “40 miles of new waterlines are currently in design and approximately 10 miles installed, allowing the water system to operate more efficiently,” Gardner stated.
“Construction is almost complete on the Barney Farms 3-million-gallon reservoir,” Gardner stated. “Five wells are currently in development [and] expected to be online before the end of 2023. The merger with the former Diversified water system was administratively finalized and now incorporated in the physical distribution system.”
