Peoria Mayor Cathy Carlat and the city council will recognize 22 young artists from 10 different Peoria Unified schools at the city council meeting 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, 8401 W. Monroe St.
The celebration is part of the 11th Annual Young Artists Program.
Each student will be honored with a certificate and the framing of their personal artwork. The West Valley Art Museum, located in Peoria City Hall, will select the artwork from one student to have on continued display near the museum.
Carlat created this on-going program to engage Peoria students interested in the arts, while bringing attention to the value that art brings to a community. The student artwork has been on display in the Peoria City Hall Pine Room since Oct. 24, 2021.
