There were 36 schools statewide in the event.
Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement is a university-based outreach program operating in 11 states. In Arizona, MESA strives to provide an opportunity for ethnic minority, low income, and first generation college-bound students to explore college majors and career interests with a group of peers interested in attending college.
Students submitted parts of their projects online, then presented and tested their projects in competition at the event.
Peoria High MESA met several times a week after school as a club for students to work on STEM related projects, career exploration and related field trips. Peoria Junior MESA met weekly (and daily closer to competition) after school to work on STEM related projects. This year the Peoria Junior MESA team members came from Santa Fe and Peoria elementary schools.
The MESA Advisor is Peoria High staff member David Hill.
