Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, hosts of 10th Annual Patriot All-America Golf Invitational presented by Valley Toyota Dealers intend to continue the tournament’s tradition of honoring and thanking active-duty service members, veterans and first responders during opening ceremonies scheduled to stream live at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, from the Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park.
The collegiate tournament, hosted by the West Valley Mavericks Foundation, Arizona Golf Association and Golf Coaches of America, and benefiting Folds of Honor and the West Valley Mavericks Foundation Charities, will run from Dec. 27 through Thursday, Dec. 31, at the golf club, 451 N. Old Litchfield Road.
The opening ceremonies and all three tournament rounds scheduled for Dec. 29, 30 and 31 on the golf club's Gold Course, will stream live on the Mavericks’ YouTube channel.

“The Patriot All-America opening ceremonies are a breathtaking event proudly honoring our military and the fallen soldiers that the 84 elite Patriot golfers proudly represent,” the Mavericks stated in a release.
Each golfer will be introduced in tandem with the name of the fallen soldier that will be represented on their bag for the entire tournament, then the U.S. Air Force Academy’s Wings of Blue Parachute Team will arrive with flags flying behind them as they descend toward their target behind the podium.
“They are not just playing for themselves, they’re playing for a fallen soldier who has sacrificed himself for the betterment of our country,” Chairman Emeritus Jerry Colangelo said.
“This was a life-changing event for me. I will never think of golf the same way again,” said past player Patrick Martinez of the University of Michigan. “I feel so grateful for our soldiers.”
Organizers said this year’s field is one of its strongest in the invitation’s history. Last year’s champion, Noah Norton of the Georgia Institute of Technology, is returning. A full list of players can be found at patriotallamerica.com.
Players will start their day Dec. 27 with the Am-Am, playing 18 rounds on the Gold Course with local amateur golfers.
