Retired Paradise Valley police officer Stephen Hovorka has died, department officials say. Officer Hovorka retired from the Paradise Valley Police Department in 2017.

Department officials say Hovorka will be 'sorely missed'

Editor's Note: A prior version of this announcement incorrectly spelled Stephen Hovorka's first name; he died in November; and he has three grandchildren, Tatum, Olivia and Alexander. Mr. Hovorka spent 12 years working for Illinois law enforcement before moving to Arizona.

Retired Paradise Valley police officer Stephen Hovorka has died, department officials say.

Officer Hovorka retired from the Paradise Valley Police Department in 2017.

Mr. Hovorka passed away in November. 

Stephen and his wife, Allison — high school sweethearts — came to Arizona from Illinois, where Mr. Hovorka began his police career before transfering to the Paradise Valley PD. 

Mr. and Mrs. Hovorka were married for 33 years and had four children: Anthony, Alexis, Nichols and Jake, and three grandchildren, Tatum, Olivia and Alexander. 

“Steve had a tremendous love for his family and Green Bay Packer football,” a media notice from the Paradise Valley Police Department stated.

Mr. Hovorka’s cause of death was not disclosed at the time of publication.
