The annual Apache Junction Veterans Day parade will not be held this year, due to the pandemic, but at least two events will be held that day in Apache Junction.

“We are sorry to announce that the annual Apache Junction Veterans Day parade will be canceled this year in light of the continuing COVID-19 crisis. This was a difficult decision to make but we feel this is in the best interest for the health and safety of the folks who enjoy the parade and the parade participants,” parade organizers said on Facebook @AJVeteransParade.

‘Celebration of Veterans’

A “Celebration of Veterans” will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Hatfield Medical Group, 300 S. Phelps in Apache Junction.

Participants are to include the Honor Guard from Apache Junction High School’s Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps and Howard Schneider of Barleens Dinner Show.

Speakers include Rear Adm. James Symonds, keynote speaker; and Nancy Fassbender, author of “My Fallen Hero” and a member of the Pinal County Veterans Memorial Foundation.

11:11 a.m. 11/11 ceremony

A ceremony is planned at 11:11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Focal Point flags, on the northwest corner of North Apache Trail and West Apache Trail in Apache Junction, to honor military veterans.
