Nelson: Families bring in children to Sun City after deaths

Thank you. Enjoyed reading your recent article on age overlay (“Overlay decision in Limbo,” Sun City Independent, Dec. 7, 2022).

It has come to my attention in a number of neighborhoods in Sun City, when the home owner passes away, family members are beginning to take over the property and install underage people in these residences. This is in part due to high cost of housing, inflation, general rise In the cost of living, which makes this an attractive venue for people’s housing who might not otherwise be able to afford on their own. Due to these many situations, the CC&Rs are not being adhered to, causing great concern among residents who find themselves living among young (very young) neighbors.

We must stay diligent in confronting this issue. Wake up Sun City residents. Take out your wallet and be prepared to pay more taxes and share your neighborhood with young people, if this trend is allowed to continue. Remember, we are an age restricted community.
