The Glendale Fire Department reports that “multiple” animals, including dogs and birds, perished in a house fire Monday morning.
Firefighters from both Glendale and Phoenix fire departments responded to an attic fire near 67th Avenue and Peck Drive.
The roof ultimately held and an air conditioning unit did not fall through, and crews rescued two dogs and one pig from the home who were reunited with the family. Seven residents will be displaced due to the fire, according to Glendale Fire, and no firefighters or residents were injured.
The Crisis Response Team and CPiC Companion Pets In Crisis are assisting the family.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
