US--WISCONSIN SUPREME COURT

Altered image of Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate in new ad raises ethics concerns

SUMMARY: A new television attack ad in Wisconsin’s hotly contested Supreme Court race features a doctored image of the liberal candidate, a move that her campaign claims could be a violation of a recently enacted state law. The image in question is of Susan Crawford. It appeared in a new TV ad Tuesday paid for by the campaign of her conservative opponent, Brad Schimel. In the original image, Crawford is smiling. But in the Schimel ad her lips are together. The new state law requires ads that have used artificial intelligence to include a disclaimer. Schimel’s campaign says the image was edited but not created by AI.

Brittney Griner could face 1-year window to take advantage of new talent on Atlanta Dream roster

SUMMARY: New Atlanta Dream star Brittney Griner says her one-year deal was based on more than just positioning herself for a bigger contract when the WNBA’s new collective bargaining agreement is expected to take effect in one year. The Dream finished 15-25 last season and lost in the first round of the playoffs. Atlanta has not won a playoff game since making the conference finals in 2018. US-TRUMP-NATIONAL MONUMENTS

Trump administration will consider redrawing boundaries of national monuments as part of energy push

SUMMARY: Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has ordered federal officials to review and consider redrawing the boundaries of national monuments created under previous presidents to protect unique landscapes and cultural resources. The order is part of President Donald Trump’s push to expand U.S. energy production. On Tuesday, the order was raising alarms among conservation groups worried that Trump will shrink or eliminate monuments established by his predecessors. Trump in his first term reduced the size of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments in Utah. They were restored under former President Joe Biden.
