More than $66,000 raised for Phoenix Cancer Support Network at Friendraiser event

The Phoenix Cancer Support Network has broken previous fundraising records, raising over $66,000 at the organization’s fifth annual Friendraiser & Gala.

This annual event provides essential support, and the opportunity to raise the necessary funds for the coming year, according to a press release.

These funds allow PCSN to continue to provide services filling in gaps in cancer care for clients undergoing cancer treatment.

The 2021 Friendsraiser & Gala was hosted by Emcee and local radio legend “The Morning Mayor,” Dave Pratt and “Lifestyle by Jules” Julie Xander. Many attendees came dressed in shades of blue to honor the 5th anniversary sapphire and wood theme.

Among the highlights were touching stories by several of PCSN’s clients and how PCSN has arranged support for them along the way. There were some poignant moments as Megan Rogalski spoke of her husband, Casey’s valiant battle with colon cancer.

Also in attendance was Dr. Steven Sckolnik, a radiation oncologist, who spoke about treating Casey and how he is always striving to be a better doctor for the community.

There were also some lighter, fun moments. Dancers from the Fred Astaire of Paradise Valley taught the gala attendees the PCSN shuffle. Highlights of the auction were a few bidding wars on several items including a family fun night basket, and a pair of signed Mike Tyson boxing gloves.

“My heart is full as a result the generosity and support of our donors, sponsors and clients,” said PCSN CEO and founder, Jenny Martin. “Until cancer is eradicated, we are compelled to continue our mission to alleviate some of the burdens that accompany a diagnosis of this horrific disease.”
