When and why I moved here: My life partner was tired of the cold weather in western New York and we wanted to live closer to some of our family members.
What I like most about living here: I love the energy that I get from the Superstition Mountains, the sun that shines bright almost every day of the year and the warm winters.
What I do: I’m a licensed esthetician and a certified dance groove facilitator by trade but I love keeping active in our community and have recently formed Gold Canyon Strong with my life partner, David Czaplicki.
What I like most about what I do: I love to make people happy and special.
Changes I’d like to see in this area: We need a community center here in Gold Canyon. One with enough space to hold large functions.
Favorite community cause and why: Gold Canyon Strong because I think it’s important to support, unite and appreciate our incredible surroundings.
My pets: Some of you might recognize Harvey the English Bulldog and his step brother Winston. Harvey stands up for miles in his decorated wagon — as he is my brand ambassador for my small business here in Gold Canyon named Spa On the Spot — and loves to greet people. Winston currently gets to join us in his pet stroller as he is suffering from Valley Fever. Poor Winston; I tend to favor him as he’s the underdog. Most people see Harvey and get such a charge out of him and his stoic mannerism. Poor Winston rarely gets noticed so I overcompensate for him.
My interests and hobbies: Hiking, rock painting with our community group Goldie Rocks, reading with our local Silver Fish Book Club, grooving with Gold Canyon Grooves and playing pickleball in the Peralta Trails pickleball club.
The trait(s) I admire in others: Kind and honest people.
People who inspired me (and how): A plastic surgeon who was willing to see me grow in my career from a part-time receptionist to a dual-licensed esthetician. He trusted my desire to learn about the appearance enhancement industry and provided the most incredible training.
My guiding philosophy: Try to make at least one person happy every day.
