Meet Your Neighbor…Delann Harshman Your Local Medicare Plans Specialist

Name: Delann Harshman

Age: Baby Boomer!

Business Name: Harshman Insurance Agency

Town/Neighborhood: Sun City West

Hours of operation: Weekday 8 – 6.  Saturdays 8 – 12:00

I am available for appointments outside of normal business hours.

Personal background highlights: My biggest accomplishment are my 2 kids.  I am so incredible proud of them and the adults they have become.  My son lives in Phoenix, my daughter lives in Indiana with her husband and my granddaughter, Charlotte, who has my heart!!

Professional background highlights: I have worked in several industries, always in a sales position.  I started working in insurance 5 years ago.

What I do: I’m your personal insurance shopper.  Medicare, Health Insurance, Life Insurance.  I’m a broker so I look at several companies to find a policy that best suits your needs.

What I like most about doing business here: The people are so nice.  I talk with a lot of people from all over the United States.  Arizona is one of the friendliest states.

Changes I’d like to see in this area: Insurance education. People of all ages need to be informed on what type of insurance they are getting and how it works.  Medicare Plans and Health Insurance differ from one company to the other.  It’s important to know how they work.

What am I promoting: Medicare for those over 65 and those on disability.  Health Insurance for the 64 and under population who don’t have corporate health care coverage.  Life insurance for those wanting to protect their families.

What I’m excited about and why: I’m a pretty new Arizona resident so I’m excited to meet new people and hear their stories.  People are fascinating, I always learn something.  I have a lot of exploring to do…Arizona is full of forests, mountain ranges, canyons, and national parks.  Cooler temperatures will be great too!

When and why I started my business/employment here: I started in the insurance business 5 years ago.  I left a large corporate organization and started my own company 3 years ago so I could give people more options with more companies to choose from.  I love what I do…I like helping people.  Medicare is confusing, it should be reviewed every year.  Health insurance, outside of corporate coverage, is hard find but you do have options.  Life insurance is for all ages and the best way to protect your loved ones.  It doesn’t have to be expensive.  I moved to Arizona because I hear the winters are spectacular!

My interests & hobbies: Exploring new places and meeting new people! I like to sew, walk my dogs (Spencer, my Maltese, and Harlie, my pug), and just enjoy life!

People who inspire me (and how): My mom has inspired me more than anyone has.  She always said that working hard never hurt anybody, respect everyone, and treat others how you would want to be treated.  Most importantly… enjoy life and laugh a lot!

My guiding philosophy: Listen...people want to be heard and understood.

My advice to today’s youth:  Be kind to yourself.  Stay open minded to the views and opinions of others.  Don’t fear failure, believe it or not it makes you stronger.  Always remember your just as important as the next guy.
