Your Name: Bonnie Rigsby

Age: 52

Business Name: Let Your Soul Breathe LLC

Town/Neighborhood: Gold Canyon

Hours of operation: By appointment only, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, 7 a.m.-noon Friday; and closed Saturday-Sunday. I take some appointments on Saturdays when there is a special need.

Contact information: letyoursoulbreathe@gmail.com; letyoursoulbreathe.com; Facebook @letyoursoulbreathe1111 and Instagram @letyoursoulbreathe1111.

Personal background highlights: Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. Toured with the Virginia USO to entertain our military troops, with belly dancing/tribal/Spanish skirt dancing.

Professional background highlights: Reiki master, life Ccoach, compassionate caregiver, inspirational presenter, spiritual teacher, article contributor to Teen Strong AZ (suicide prevention). I received first place for the Gold Canyon Strong contest this year (“What I Love About Gold Canyon!”). Here’s the link to my video submission if you’d like to watch it: youtube.com/watch?v=Ti41N5K9W2Q&t=14s

What I do: We offer our clients various stress management, restorative and therapeutic tools and experiences intended to facilitate healing. This includes many modalities under the stress management umbrella. Reiki, EFT/tapping, sound and crystal healing, stress-management classes, sage/home blessings, wedding/special event rituals, customized meaningful gifts (poetry) and more. I consider myself a lifetime student, so if something is stressing you out, I seek to find ways to help based on your own unique circumstances.

What I like most about doing business here: Relishing in the magic of the Superstition Mountains, the rural small town feel with great spiritual energy and a close-knit community of active adults with a positive community vibe.

Changes I’d like to see in this area: Increase the spiritual wellness community to help those in need, more self-care opportunities for our community and see our leaders embracing diverse cultures, beliefs and backgrounds instead of trying to fit people into a cultural box. Of course providing more accessibility for busy Route 60 traffic would also be wonderful.

What am I promoting: Stress relief, authenticity and empowerment classes ($30 per person; available for individuals, groups and businesses), Do you have a small group of friends who enjoy learning new things? Bring your group to our cozy classes and empower yourselves with knowledge, relaxation, fun and stress relief. Local individual stress management Sessions are also available (90-minute sessions to give you more for your money — $150). Sessions and classes are available via Zoom or in-person based on client preference. Our next “cozy class” for six people maximum is wellness Wednesday, 10-11:30 a.m. July 14.

My Business Address: 6589 S. Kings Ranch Road Suite No. 102-D, Gold Canyon AZ 85118.

What I’m excited about and why: I’m blessed to see individuals finally discover ways to heal from old pains. Witnessing the positive change in increased self-care, open-mindedness and emotional resilience are exciting changes in our community. I’d love to see more of that. We need to build our resilience to avoid the path of disease, discomfort and negative results we’re seeing when we turn on the news. Watching the demographics in Gold Canyon become more diversified is also exciting because young families and our older populations are learning from each other, finding more ways to connect and are taking better care of themselves and others. Many people in our community enjoy the great outdoors like I do, and I love seeing people living more fully and actively pursuing time in nature to reconnect. I believe that nature is one of our greatest healers, so it’s refreshing to see like-minded people living this way.

Favorite community cause and why:

  • 1) Gold Canyon Strong; June Russo brings together our beautiful community in fun, inspiring and caring ways. Her huge heart is just the kind of thing that makes me proud to call Gold Canyon my home. Her events give our community joyful things to look forward to and help us maintain the small town feel I truly love.
  • 2) The Change Project/Queen Creek led by the always amazing Erica Ballesteros; Students receive necessary life skills like resume building and interviewing to prepare for their bright futures. Erica and I are both very passionate about helping our youth with their emotional resilience. Part of my own purpose is to bring mandatory life skills programs to our schools, to help our kids avoid carrying decades of emotional baggage that robs them of their joy and mission. I’m proud to collaborate with Erica from time to time during her student sessions at the American Leadership Academy, while addressing bullying, authenticity and providing emotional resilience/stress management tools.

When and why I started my business/employment here: I moved to Gold Canyon just before Christmas in 2019. I wanted a rural placement due to my love affair with nature. The energy of the Superstition Mountains was a huge draw for me and this energy positively radiates all around us at home and work. The grand opening of my business occurred on June 18, 2021, with a ribbon cutting by the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce. I opened my brick-and-mortar business suite in April 2021. Now is the perfect time to launch my business in our community, as many are struggling more than ever with their daily lives and the massive stress they’ve carried before, during and after COVID-19. If I can provide even a small amount of support to those in need, we’re all better off due to our close human connection.

Where I was before and why I left: I was born and raised in Virginia and moved to Arizona in October 2012 after my husband received a job transfer. We’re big believers in living our lives to the fullest, so we took the opportunity to live where the sun always shines and I can be in my beloved nature on a continual basis. We had planned to retire in Arizona, but when the moment came years earlier, we chose to grab it and enjoy the ride. We love Arizona and are so grateful we took the leap.

My family: I’m happily married to my high school sweetheart, blessed with a blended family of four kids, two grandkids and our Bengal “zen kitty” Ghost.

My interests & hobbies: Making others smile, living my purpose helping others, rock hounding, hiking, dancing, being in nature, exploring new places/experiencing new things, being a lifetime student, enjoying my many quirks and “rocking my genuine vibe.”

People who inspire me (and how): Dannion Brinkley, who gave me the inspiration to open my own stress healing center (our future) and Dannion’s work with veterans and hospice patients moves my soul. Goldie Hawn also inspires me with her MindUp programs for elementary school students. She is teaching our youth how to manage their emotions and has brought mindfulness and meditation to school systems to help kids better cope with the ups and downs of life.

My guiding philosophy:

  • While I breathe, I hope — Sharp Family Motto (my maiden name)
  • “When you learn, teach. When you get give.” — Maya Angelou
  • Let your soul breathe. (Release what isn’t serving your highest good.)

My advice to today’s youth: Rock your genuine vibe. Be who you are and don’t feel guilty for it. You are in your greatest power when you are being authentic to your unique gifts. Manage your mind/emotions when you’re young to avoid the troubles us adults are now facing from carrying our old emotional baggage.
