Posted

Sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting that ended in a suspect’s death.

Around 6 p.m. Sunday, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Watson and Lower Buckeye roads for reports of a shooting victim.

The Buckeye Police Department responded to assist.

According to the caller, a suspect had fled the scene on foot. As deputies and officers arrived on scene, they rendered aid to the victim, who survived his injuries.

MCSO identified the victim as Jose A. Granados-Zuno, 21.

Shortly after responding, Buckeye officers were engaged near the initial incident by an active shooter, MCSO said. The shooter matched the description of the suspect in the initial shooting incident.

More Buckeye officers responded to help resolve the active shooter incident. As the shooter engaged responding officers, they returned fire, striking and killing him.

MCSO identified the shooter as Jose Eduardo Flores, 26.

No first responders were injured during this incident.
