The anticipation is over as Arizona Masters Swimming just released the 25-yard short course state records for 2022.
The grit and determination of the Sun City West Masters Swimming Women’s Relay teams was rewarded as they broke two state record during the 2022 season: women’s 400-yard freestyle relay 65+ (age group); Karen Loring, Eleine Greene, Barbara Gullingsud and Gini Baker broke the state record with a time of 5:54.35; and the 65+ women’s 200-yard medley relay of Liz Scott, Alice Hunsaker, Linda Bley and Barb Sloan broke the state record with a time of 2:28.92.
There are common characteristics that Sun City West swimmers share; they have fundamental ideals of persistence and determination, which help them succeed in the sport. Waking up early in the morning to jump into a pool (for coached workouts) three times a week can be difficult and requires great personal motivation. SCW Maters Swimmers hold one another accountable by committing to practice and to the team and this recognition examples the true spirit of TEAMWork.
