Over the past several years, the sewer district in Apache Junction has offered yard waste disposal services with horse manure being an additive to the composting process.
As the Superstition Mountains Community Facilities District No. 1 moves to a different process, horse manure is no longer necessary, according to a notice on the district's website.
As a result, the district will no longer offer yard waste or manure disposal at the treatment plant, 5661 S. Ironwood Drive after 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.
“Thank you to all of our manure haulers for being valued customers,” the notice states.
