12:45 p.m. update
Scottsdale Police Department officials have announced the male suspect in yesterday's officer-involved shooting has been identified as 61-year-old Chris A. Mellon.
The investigation has revealed that Mellon was arrested at his residence on Dec. 1, 2018, for the charges of Domestic Violence - Assault and Disorderly conduct.
"The officer-involved shooting investigation is still on-going and updates will be provided as they become available," Sgt. Ben Hoster said in a press release.
One man has died after being shot by Scottsdale police officers, officials say.
At 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 11, the Scottsdale Police Department dispatch center received multiple calls requesting a welfare check on a female subject at a residence in the area of Dobson Road and Conquistadores Drive.
The callers related that a female subject and her husband were having domestic problems, police officials say, adding that the husband was acting erratically, and he was armed with a gun.
The husband had also made threats against family members, police say.
According to police, when officers arrived they learned that several immediate family members were inside the home, but the wife was not.
As the officers worked to extricate the family members, the husband was seen on the roof of the residence, police say.
The husband reportedly had a gun and was allegedly pointing the firearm at police officers near his position.
Two Scottsdale police officers, fearing for the safety of their fellow officers, police say, fired their weapons at the suspect.
The suspect was killed from the gun shots, police say.
No one else was injured in this incident.
Scottsdale police say they are in the early stages of the investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
