A man is facing attempted murder charges following a shooting in Chandler.

Zachary Victor Rhodes, 26, was arrested Tuesday, March 24 on seven counts each of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, Chandler police responded to multiple reports of shots fired near Chandler Boulevard and Hamilton Street. Responding officers could hear the gunshots and stopped short of an apartment complex, where gunshots were being fired from, records state.

One officer sustained minor injuries to his arm, according to records.

More officers arrived as the suspect moved from the apartment and into a field.

A police helicopter gave commands to the shooter, who ultimately dropped his firearm and was taken into custody. Police located two firearms in the vicinity, records state.

Police also found dozens of spent casings in the suspect's apartment and outside in the parking lot. Several vehicles had been struck as well, records state.

The suspect allegedly stated that he had been training for this his whole life.

Mr. Rhodes was jailed in lieu of $2 million cash-only bond with court dates March 31 and April 3.
