Klinkenborg: RCSC employee displays wrong behavior in Sun City

Posted

I am a Sun City resident. The following statement is public knowledge of what the emcee of the Chicago Experience concert said.

This employee announced that masks were not required, and in a bragging tone claimed to be unvaccinated! Apparently, the crowd cheered.

These statements were partisan and this event was a public, non-political event, meant to be an evening of entertainment and relaxation. Yet the emcee assumed the right to brag about personal/political choices and that was unequivocal unprofessional behavior. RCSC’s governance model is that all are welcome, none are shunned and this is a community for all, regardless of personal or political beliefs.

The additional reality of Arizona’s rising omicron COVID cases above 15,000 for Saturday and those ill and dying was totally insensitive to the right of those who choose to be vaccinated and protected. The emcee stated a shaming and belittling comment to those who do not think the way the emcee does. I find the cheering crowd a sad statement at a public non-political event that speaks to the divisiveness within our county and country.

I recommend a formal public apology and a written statement of the non-professional behavior/words be placed in the emcee’s personnel file. I have multiple years of experience in hospital administration and managing a large private psychotherapy practice, so I know that my recommendation falls within the guidelines of personnel review and monitoring.

I do hope the RCSC board has the courage to address this inappropriate behavior/language and has procedures written to address them.
